You’d need a month or more to enjoy all that Mykonos has to offer but on a shorter break, make sure you see the famous windmills in the western part of Chora, otherwise known as Mykonos Town. Many years ago the fields of Mykonos would have been crammed with wheat and the windmills ground the corn to make the island’s bread. All that has changed now with the advent of tourism and the windmills are now simply a part of that industry.

On the sea edge of the western part of Chora you’ll find the area known as Little Venice. Only five minutes’ walk from the windmills, it’s called that because many of the houses are built along the edge of the sea with pretty wooden balconies overhanging the water. It’s especially beautiful at sunset when it’s considered the most romantic place on the island.
